Covid-19 recoveries cross 1L-mark in UP

LUCKNOW:The number of Covid-19 patients who have recovered from the disease crossed the one lakh-mark (1,00,432) in Uttar Pradesh even as the state’s infection tally reached 1,54,418 on Sunday.

As many as 9,268 fresh cases were recorded in 48 hours, including 4,454 cases during the day, while the death count reached 2,449 with 116 deaths in the same period. “In all, 91,904 samples were tested in a day and till now 37,86,633 samples have been tested in the state,” said Amit Mohan Prasad, additional chief secretary, health.

Lucknow recorded 11 deaths on Sunday, Ambedkarna­gar two, Moradabad five, Prayagraj two, Saharanpur three, Shahjahanp­ur two, Varanasi three, Ayodhya two, Bareilly two, Deoria two, Lakhimpur Kheri two, Kanpur four, one each in Agra, Amroha, Auraiya, Baghpat, Ballia, Balrampur, Bulandshah­r, Fatehpur, Ghazipur, Jalaun, Lalitpur, Pratapgarh and Unnao.

The state capital also saw maximum 814 cases, followed by Kanpur 397, Gorakhpur 385, Varanasi 215, Prayagraj 138, Ghaziabad 121 and Bareilly 155.

“Of the total patients, 24,686 are in home isolation in UP. Such patients need to monitor their health and symptoms and update health authoritie­s,” said Dr Abhishek Shukla, secretary general, Associatio­n of Internatio­nal Doctors.

The first 1,000 cases (1,184) were recorded on April 20, which was 49 days since the first case reported. On June 4, the state crossed the 9,000 mark and on July 1, 25102. On July 19 the figure rose to 49,523, on July 21 53,598, July 22 55,906, on July 23 58,104, on July 24 60,771, on July 25 63,742, on July 26 66,988 and on July 27 70,493. On August 4, the infection tally reached 1,00,310, on August 5 1,04,388, on August 6 1,08,974, on August 7 1,13,378, on August 10 1,26,722, on August 15 1,50,061 and on August 16 1,54,418.
