Exam for recruitment of BEO held at 141 centres in Lucknow
LUCKNOW: Examination for the recruitment of block education officer (BEO) was held at 141 centres in the state capital on Sunday amid protests by candidates who were against such exam being organized during the Covid-19 pandemic. A total of 67,159 candidates were registered for the test.
The candidates had launched an online campaign, expressing concern over the issue and had also been appealing to authorities not to go ahead with the exam.
District magistrate Abhishek Prakash visited a few centres to see the progress of the examination and advised centre superintendents to follow the Covid-19 protocol. The examination was monitored with the help of CCTV cameras, he said.
The DM first visited the Rajkiya Balika Inter College at Shahmina Road and checked if Covid-19 protocol was being followed at the examination centre.
He interacted with the invigilators and told them to maintain the sanctity of the exam. Despite weekend curbs, the district administration ensured that all public and private transportation system was on to help candidates reach their exam centres.
He advised students to wear mask and sanitise their hands at regular intervals.
The nDM also visited Agrasen College and Jubilee Inter College. After the joint B Ed entrance exam held on August 9, this was the second major exam conducted amid the pandemic. In Prayagraj, the exam was conducted in the maximum 106 centres for which 48,900 candidates were registered. The day saw 25,773 candidates (52.7 per cent) appearing in the exam, officials said.
SOLVERS’ GANG BUSTED, TWO HELD
PRAYAGRAJ: Prayagraj unit of Special Task force busted a solvers gang and arrested two persons from an examination centre in Rasulabad area where Block Education Officer exam was being carried out on Sunday.
