Flood deaths & damage: CM for compensation within 24 hours
LUCKNOW: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday directed the officials in flood-affected districts to distribute ration kits among the victims.
The family members of the people who died or whose houses had been damaged as well as those who suffered crop and cattle loss should be given compensation within 24 hours, the CM said. In a video –conferencing, the chief minister reviewed the relief and rescue work in 15 flood-hit districts on Saturday. The people’s representatives of the districts also participated in the meeting.
Briefing the media about the review meeting, relief commissioner Sanjay Goyal said the chief minister told the district administrations that there should be no laxity in providing relief to the flood victims. The compensation should be distributed through people’s representatives, he said. Yogi told the officials that relief and rescue operation should be carried out along with the Covid protocol.
The officers should remain alert as the flood threat continued till mid- September.
The rise in the water level of the rivers has flooded 710 villages in 15 districts, including Barabanki, Ayodhya, Ambedkar Nagar, Kushinagar, Gorakhpur, Bahraich, Gonda, Azamgarh, Basti, Mau, Sant Kabir Nagar, Sitapur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Deoria and Ballia. As many as 436 villages have been marooned.
River Sharda was flowing above danger level in Lakhimpur Kheri and river Saryu in Barabanki, Ayodhya and Ballia.
