UPRERA registration only after LDA/housing Board verification
Initiative is aimed at protecting homebuyers from unscrupulous developers
LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UPRERA) has decided to issue registration number to developers only after verification from Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) or Awas Vikas Parishad (Housing Board). The initiative is aimed at protecting homebuyers from unscrupulous developers.
According to RERA officials, this step will ensure that no RERA registration number is issued to such developers or private builders whose layout has not been cleared by the development authority or Housing Board.
The LDA or Housing Board pass layout of projects, depending on whose jurisdiction the project comes under.
“The regulatory authority is seeking details of all projects from LDA and Housing Board before issuing RERA registration number,” said Rajive
Kumar, chairman, UPRERA.
“This is to make sure that the project’s layout has been passed by the development authority or Housing Board and there is no objection on the project,” Kumar added.
UPRERA is also seeking details of ownership of land (of the project) from the development authorities.
The regulatory authority has also created a separate login ID for LDA on its web portal. With the help of this login ID, officials concerned of LDA will be able to see all details of the developer submitted to UPRERA for seeking its registration number.
“After going through the developer’s application (for RERA registration), LDA officials will be able to know whether the developer has given genuine information to RERA or not about the status of its layout,” said an LDA official.
“In such a scenario, developers will not be able to mislead UPRERA about the status of their layout,” added the official.
