A woman from the national cadet corps (NCC) displayed commendable courage attempting to save the life of a stranger.

Cadet Muskan Verma of 6 UP (Girls) battalion, Prayagraj, and her friend Akansha Trivedi, both basketball players, were jogging around gate no 3 of the Allahabad High Court as part of their morning routine when they saw a middle aged man slump to the ground.

“Seeing him fall down, we rushed for help and attempted to stop his bleeding. We tried calling ambulance and the police on phone. When nothing worked, I ran to the next intersection and called the policeman on duty who immediately rushed to help the person,” said Muskan, a BCom-II student of Allahabad University (AU).

They took the man, apparently injured due to the fall, to SRN hospital where he was attended on priority.

“We were told that he suffered a brain hemorrhage and needed to be operated immediately. We knew nothing about him and he had no identity card with him. So we again rushed back to the spot and also tried to trace his family members by making random inquiries,” said Muskan, an NCC sergeant.

When nothing worked, Muskan clicked the stranger’s photograph and shared it on the social media. By this time, the man’s family also arrived near the High Court looking for him.

“We met them and brought them to SRN hospital,” she said. “Unfortunately, I was told on Monday afternoon that he is no more,” said the brave cadet of NCC.
