6 killed, 12 injured as 2 UP buses, truck collide
LUCKNOW:At least six people died and eight others were critically injured when two Uttar Pradesh (UP) state roadways corporation buses and a truck collided in Kakori police station limits on the outskirts of Lucknow on Wednesday morning.
Traffic on the busy Hardoi road was affected for a couple of hours due to the accident.
Joint commissioner of police (JCP), law and order, Naveen Arora confirmed six persons, including one of the bus drivers, had died while eight injured passengers were admitted at the King George’s Medical University (KGMU)’s trauma centre.
He said the deceased included one of the bus drivers Sarv Aadhar, 50, two brothers Lucky Saxena, 22, and Rajendra Saxena,48,
Nitesh Bharti, 20, Hari Ram, 40 and a 40-year-old woman, whose identity could not be ascertained.
Managing director of Uttar Pradesh state roadways transport corporation (UPSRTC) Raj Shekhar said a three- member team of UPSRTC officers wase probing about circumstances and cause behind the accident and would submit their findings within 24 hours. He said the team had already visited the spot and would come up with conclusive report soon.
The JCP said the incident took place when a roadways bus coming from Lucknow city tried to overtake a truck and collided with another bus coming from the opposite direction near Amethiya turn on Hardoi road at around 6.30 am. He said the truck also got involved in the collision.
The truck driver Zaheer said
that he lost control of the vehicle when the two buses collided within metres of his vehicle.
The JCP said the rescue operation was started within a few minutes of receiving information about the accident and added the local police with help of State Disaster Response Force pulled out all the injured and rushed them to the trauma centre. He said the bodies were, however, later taken for the post-mortem examination after identification process.
