LUCKNOW “Getting a positive Covid -19 report came as a shock, because I had been keeping utmost precautions. The first thought that came to my mind was how would I survive alone in an isolation ward,” said Anil Upadhyay, a marketing executive.

Anil was give the home isolation option, in view of the fact that he was asymptomatic. “Half the worries were over as the doctor told me I was not seriously ill to be admitted to a hospital. The rest was taken care of by medicines and daily routine of good diet, chatting with friends and doing some office work also that made me almost forget that I was ill,” he said while pointing out home isolation was a good option for those not severely ill.

“In fact, I had made a routine chart which included breakfast, lunch and dinner on time along with medicines. Friends too supported me by ensuring that all the items I needed, right from food grains to toothpaste, were delivered even as they stayed at a distance,” said Anil.

However, home isolation was a bit difficult for a family in Birhana area in Naka as the entire family had tested positive. “We are five members who tested positive, including three children.

Our routine starts with Yog Asanas early morning followed by fruits, concoction and steam inhalation along with prescribed medicines that the health department gave us,” said a family member.

“It is five days now and we hope we will be back to normal life in the next few days,” said one of the family members.

In Lucknow, 13,044 patients have opted for home isolation (updated till August 24) of which 8,193 have recovered and 4,851 are under treatment.
