RDA ORDERS DEMOLITION OF AZAM KHAN WIFE’S RESORT
Rampur Development Authority claims the map of the resort is not approved by a valid body.
LUCKNOW In a fresh action against Azam Khan, Samajwadi Party MP from Rampur, and his family, the Rampur Development Authority (RDA) has issued an order to demolish a resort owned by Azam’s wife Tazeen Fatima.
Azam, Fatima and their son Abdullah Azam are currently lodged in Sitapur jail in various cases ranging from forgery to extortion. HT is in possession of the RDA order. In its order the RDA has claimed that the map of the resort, which houses a banquet and marriage hall, was not approved by a valid body. A notice was sent on August 27 and the owner has been given 15 days to demolish the resort.

The notice has been sent to Fatima in Sitapur jail.
The resort named ‘Humsafar’ (companion) is located in Pasiapur Shunali village, under Sadar tehsil of Rampur.
In an earlier communication with RDA, Fatima claimed that she owned the resort and its map was passed by the local district panchayat. But the RDA countered that the area where the resort is build does not fall under the jurisdiction of district panchayat but RDA. Also the ownership of land on which the resort is build has been contested by various parties.
A close family aide of Azam, on condition of anonymity, said the family is exploring options regarding the notice. “The notice was sent without looking at all aspects of the matter properly. We will look into the options we have before responding to the notice,” the aide said. He added that the notice, and the previous cases against the family, were an effort by the state government and its agencies to suppress the voice of the minorities.
