Step up testing in Gorakhpur, its adjoining districts: CM
LUCKNOW : Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday directed officials to launch an intensive contact tracing exercise, step up door-to-door survey and sample testing in Gorakhpur and its adjoining districts.
Yogi Adityanath, who was on a two-day visit to Gorakhpur, reviewed the measures taken by the district administration and the health department to check the spread of the coronavirus infection.
“Increase the sample tests to 4,000 daily, launch house-tohouse survey and contact tracing in the areas in which a large (number of) coronavirus infected patients are detected. The markets in these areas should open and close according to the time fixed by the local administration. A mass awareness campaign should be launched to make people aware of the Covid protocol,” he said.
Officers should ensure that private hospitals did not charge more money than the rate fixed by the state government, he said. He directed officials of BRD Medical College to make a 300bed Covid hospital operational in the newly constructed child health care institute in the medical college premises.
October 15 deadline for Kushinagar airport work
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday directed officials to complete construction of the Kushinagar international airport by October 15. The state government has proposed international flights from Kushinagar from November 30.
Lawmakers asked to work unitedly
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath tried to resolve differences among senior BJP leaders in Gorakhpur on Sunday.
Holding a meeting with people’s representatives, including MPs and MLAs, he told them to work unitedly for development of the area and fight the Covid-19 pandemic. Actor-turned-BJP MP from Gorakhpur Ravi Kishan said the CM held discussions on various projects and urged the people’s representatives to work unitedly and improve the image of the district. Gorakhpur Sadar, said the CM gave the assurance that damaged roads will be repaired and waterlogging in city areas will be cleared on priority.
“There was no dispute among the BJP leaders, we were drawing the attention of the state government through dialogue,” Agarwal said. Differences had cropped up among BJP leaders in the district over the transfer of an assistant engineer posted in the PWD.
Yogi takes part in Ramkatha
The chief minister participated in a Ramkatha programme on the Gorakhnath temple premises in Gorakhpur. In a series of tweets, Adityanath said the first Ramkatha programme was being organised in the country to mark the start of construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
