Yogi inaugurates UP’s 1st BSL-3 lab, 300-bed Covid hosp in Gkp
LUCKNOW : Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday inaugurated a 300-bed Covid hospital, the state’s first BSL-3 (bio safety level 3) laboratory, a 100-bed post graduate hostel and guest house at Baba Raghav Das Medical College in Gorakhpur.
Asserting that the state government was committed to checking the fatality rate of Covid-19 patients, he called upon doctors and paramedical staff to treat the patients in Covid hospitals as family members.
The construction of the Covid hospital and the BS-3 lab were completed on schedule, he said, adding that the new lab will enhance the sample testing capacity.
BRD Medical College already had a 200-bed level- 3 hospital. With a new hospital becoming functional now, the number of beds has increased to 500. The new Covid hospital has 100 ICU beds and 200 isolation beds.
It was also equipped with mobile digital X-ray machine, 72 ventilators, 50 HFNC (high flow nasal cannula), 200 infusion pumps, monitors with ultrasound machine, pulse oximeter machines and other lifesaving equipment, Yogi said.
“The Covid pandemic has provided an opportunity to doctors and paramedical staff to serve humanity. Till a medicine or vaccine comes, we have to win the battle against pandemic with hard work. Senior doctors should take bed-to-bed rounds in wards and provide better treatment to patients,” he said.
“It will reduce the mortality rate and instil confidence among the people. An intensive doorto-door survey, contact tracing and cleanliness drive should be launched in all the districts,” he said.
The CM also said the state government was taking care of every citizen. With the start of Unlock-4, all economic activities had started except in the containment zones and hence people should be made aware that coronavirus infection can be avoided only by taking precautions, he said.
