Guv praises UP, MP for forming task force for NEP rollout
LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh governor Anandiben Patel, who also holds additional charge of Madhya Pradesh governor, on Monday said both the states have made huge strides in implementing the New Education Policy (NEP) -2020 by constituting task force involving basic, secondary, higher and vocational education departments.
The task force would submit recommendations on implementation of NEP. “As soon as the task force submits its report, it will be thoroughly discussed and will be implemented in the state,” she said. The governor also said NEP 2020 will put an end to all kind of discrimination between rich and poor students as it promotes inclusive education and upholds the interest of physically challenged students.
The UP government has formed a 17-member task force
to formulate an action plan for effective implementation of NEP-2020 which is headed by deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma and basic education minister Satish Chand Dwivedi, the chairman and vice- chairman of the task force. The introductory meeting of the task force was held on August 27.
The governor said basic, secondary, higher and vocational education departments have formed steering committees which are taking feedback from experts in preparing roadmap to implement NEP 2020 effectively in the state. “The NEP lays stress in strengthening primary level education so that every student has access to higher education,” she said. In July, the Union Cabinet approved NEP- 2020, paving the way for reforms in schools and the higher education sector in the country.
The other task force members include UP State Council of Higher Education chairman Prof Girish Chandra Tripathi, additional chief secretary (ACS) (basic education) Renuka Kumar, ACS (technical education) S Radha Chauhan, ACS (higher education) Monika S Garg and ACS (secondary education) Aradhana Shukla.
Former secretary, government of India, Anil Swarup, former CBSE chairman Ashok Ganguly, APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) vice chancellor Vinay Kumar Pathak and former director (secondary education) Krishna Mohan Tripathi are also part of the task force.
