22 govt schools in Qaiserbagh to get makeover
LUCKNOW : As many as 22 state government-run schools, half a dozen parks and heritage establishments within the radius of 12km of Qaiserbagh area in Lucknow are set to get a makeover under the smart city project.
“There are around 22 government schools that falls within area base development (ABD)— the 12km area around Qaiserbagh that would witness development works under smart city,” said Mukesh Meshram, outgoing divisional commissioner during a meeting with officials.
On Wednesday, Ranjan Kumar took charge of divisional commissioner from Meshram, who joined as principal secretary culture and tourism.
In the meeting, the outgoing divisional commissioner directed the officials to carry out thorough inspection of schools and check the load bearing capacity of school building.
“Since most of the schools are old it is very important to check the load bearing capacity of the structure and to carry out the strengthening work,” he added.
Other than the strengthening work, he said the schools would also witness beautification work that will also include illumination.
“We plan to change old furniture, windows, doors and other facilities at the schools,” he added. The project also includes restoration of heritage structures and parks, falling within 12km radius of Qaiserbagh. Officials said Qaiserbagh development would be carried out in two parts—one would cover the heritage structures and other would focus on basic amenities.
As per the plan, an amount of Rs 98 crore would be spent on the development of sewerage lines.
Other than this, around 40 crore would be spend on the development of water supply pipeline network to ensure proper water supply in the area. And Rs 26 crore would be spent on drainage work.
The plan also includes the development of the roundabout at the Qaiserbagh crossing with the total cost of Rs 74 lakh.
Heritage structures, including Kothi Darshan Vilas, Kothi Roshan-ud-Daula, Kothi Gulistan-e-Eram, Begum Hazrat Mahal Park and Chhatar Manzil would also witness the conservation under the smart city mission with the total outlay of Rs 62.2 crore.
