LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had ended anarchy which prevailed in the country before he took charge.

He was speaking at a programme organised to mark the Prime Minister’s birthday at Hindu Sewa Ashram on Gorakhnath temple premises in Gorakhpur. Adityanath said the country had moved fast on the path of developmen­t in the six years during which PM Modi had been at the helm of affairs. There was disorder in the country before PM Modi took the reins, he said.

In the last six years, the country witnessed major changes due to the proficient and farsighted leadership of PM Modi, he said. The achievemen­ts included developmen­t in the infrastruc­ture sector, new IITs, IIMs, AIIMS, airports, expansion of the railway network, fertilizer factories and constructi­on of highways, the chief minister observed. Terror activities had been neutralize­d in Jammu and Kashmir and peace had been restored in the North-Eastern states, he said.

Jammu and Kashmir joined the national mainstream with the ending of Article 370, he said, adding that all countries admired Prime Minister Modi and India’s stature had increased.

The borders of the country were secure and enemies had

been taught a lesson, he said. The constructi­on of Ram temple had started amid an atmosphere of harmony, he noted. While UNESCO gave recognitio­n to Kumbh organised at Prayagraj, the Namami Gange project had been launched to make the Ganga pollution free, Yogi said.

“Poor people are getting benefits of the ‘PM Awas (Yojana)’ along with free power connection and toilets. Benefits of welfare schemes like ‘Ujjawala’ and

‘Kanya Saubhagya’ are also reaching the people. The government is putting in efforts to extend the benefits of all schemes to the last man,” he said.

The chief minister distribute­d tricycles, wheelchair­s, hearing aids, artificial limbs and smart canes to divyangs (differentl­y-abled people) in the programme.

Sulabh’s social workers launched a cleanlines­s drive under ‘Seva Saptah’ around Sulabh public toilets and distribute­d sanitary napkin packets among adolescent girls and women apart from handing over a number of masks in Kanpur, Lucknow, Agra, Ayodhya, Varanasi and Vrindavan.
