Eight greenfield dairies will come up in state, says CM

LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said the state government was in the process of establishi­ng eight greenfield dairies in Lucknow, Varanasi, Meerut, Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Firozabad, Ayodhya and Moradabad. Four existing dairies in Jhansi, Noida, Aligarh and Prayagraj would be upgraded.

He also said the state government would establish a dairy in each division in the first phase, one each between two districts in the second phase and a dairy for each district in the third phase to help the youth become selfrelian­t, said a press statement from the chief minister’s office quoting Yogi.

He was addressing an event organised by Banas Dairy, Gujarat for distributi­on of bonus to UP milk producers who are among its members. The chief minister gave away bonus cheques to two milk producers each from Unnao and Hardoi. Yogi praised Banas Dairy for distributi­ng bonus to milk producers on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.

“The PM says that it is important to connect farmers with agricultur­e allied activities, such as animal rearing, to double farmers’ incoming. In Gujarat, this model has been successful. UP should replicate it fast in the state,” he said.

He also said Banas Dairy was Asia’s largest cooperativ­e dairy and the biggest member of Amul.

Banas Dairy chairman Shankar Bhai Chaudhary praised Yogi’s efforts towards doubling farmers’ income. He said Banas Dairy will establish two milk processing units in UP.
