Govt will eradicate Devipatan region’s backwardness: Yogi AN ACTION PLAN WAS NEEDED FOR DEVELOPMENT OF THE REGION AS PER THE NITI AYOG PARAMETERS, THE CM SAID
LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday said the state government was committed to eradicating backwardness from districts of the state’s Devipatan region.
The region is part of the Buddha circuit and holds spiritual importance. Development of the circuit under the ‘Swadesh Darshan Yojna’ will give a boost to tourism in the region and elsewhere in the state. He asked officials to complete the Sharavasti airport project and operationalise it soon.
Yogi was holding a review meeting for the Devipatan division, comprising Bahraich, Shravasti, Balrampur and Gonda districts, via video link from his official residence here. Warning officials, he said: “Public money is hard-earned. If misutilised, the government will take stringent action.” He also said Bahraich, Shravasti and Balrampur were included in the list of the country’s aspirational districts which hold a lot of growth potential.
There was a need to prepare an action plan for integrated and inclusive development of the region as per the six parameters fixed by the Niti Aayog, he added.
The officials informed him that there were 12 ongoing projects in the division worth over Rs 50 crore each and their total cost was Rs 1493.20 crore. Of this, Rs 964.57 crore has been released so far.
UP minister for khadi development and MSME Sidharth
Nath Singh, who is the minister incharge of Gonda district, and cooperatives minister Mukut Bihari Verma, along with other public representatives, participated in the meeting.
Reviewing the Covid-19 situation, Yogi said Gonda had sufficient facilities for Covid treatment which should be used to the fullest.
“The chief minister noted that there are only 10 patients in the 300-bed dedicated Covid hospital of Gonda and wondered if the authorities were taking enough interest in admitting patients,” a statement from the chief minister’s office said.
