77 more succumb to Covid-19, UP’s death toll at 5,212
Recoveries cross 3L-mark in state; Lucknow reports 14 deaths, infection tally rises to 48,136
LUCKNOW: With 77 Covid-19 fatalities recorded on Wednesday, Uttar Pradesh’s death toll due to the virus climbed to 5,212 while 5,722 fresh cases, including 969 in Lucknow, pushed the infection tally 3,69,686.
The total number of people discharged after treatment crossed the 3 lakh-mark in the state, said officials.
Lucknow reported the maximum 14 deaths, followed by six in Kanpur and Prayagraj, four in Gorakhpur, Jhansi and Meerut, three in Barabanki, one each in Gautam Buddh Nagar, Bareilly, Ayodhya and Varanasi.

Meerut reported 255 fresh cases, Kanpur 244 cases, Prayagraj 277, Gorakhpur 193, Ghaziabad 170, Gautam Buddh Nagar 244, Bareilly 107, Jhansi 112 and Lakhimpur Kheri 118.
New cases were reported from Ashiana 31, Indira Nagar 48, Alambagh 34, Thakurganj 26, Talkatora 31, Hasanganj 12, Gomti Nagar 67, Hazratganj 18, Madiaon 21, Rae Bareli road 38, Aliganj 35, Jankipuram 29, Mahanagar 21, Cantt 24, Chowk 38, Chinhat 42, Naka 10, Vikasnagar 15, Krishnanagar 10, Bazarkhala 10, Sarojininagar 22, Vrindavan Yojna 17, Para 23, Faizabad Road 15, Gudamba 14, Telibagh 14, Mohanlalganj 12 and Vibhuti Khand 15, as per the health department data.
“The recovery rate in Lucknow
is 78.46% and fatality rate among Covid patients is 1.28%,” said Dr Abhishek Shukla, secretary general, Association of International Doctors.
In all 243, patients were allotted hospitals. Of these, 88 opted for home isolation. So far, 35,088 patients had opted for home isolation in Lucknow. 7,427 patients in home isolation were recuperating, said Yogesh Raghuvanshi, spokesperson for the office of the chief medical officer, Lucknow.
