Mining dept takes tech leap, launches single-window system
ISSUE OF MINING LICENCE FOR AGRICULTURAL LAND AND ALL SERVICES RELATED TO EXECUTION OF DEED HAD BEEN MADE ONLINE
LUCKNOW: The state department of geology and mining has launched a single-window system, ‘Mine Mitra’, to provide all services related to mining online to the people.
The step was taken as chief minister Yogi Adityanath directed the department to bring transparency in working, increase revenue and ensure that minerals were available to people at reasonable rates, said Roshan Jacob, director, department of geology and mining, at a press conference.
The single-window system was developed to meet all the requirements related to mining in collaboration with Margsoft Technologies, a leading technical institution in the field of digital transformation designated by Updesco (Uttar Pradesh Development Systems Corporation Ltd) to bring transparency in the system, speedy approval and issue required licence, she said.
The system was meant to ensure equal opportunities were being provided to the lessee, licensee and customers to fulfill all the requirements related to minerals, she added.
Under the Integrated Mining Surveillance System (IMSS), a unified command centre was established under the directorate of geology and mining for effective revenue growth with controlling illegal mining and illegal transportation of the mineral.
Geo-fencing of mining areas, installation of PTZ cameras in the mining area, installation of cameras at weigh bridges for the measurement of mineral loaded on vehicles from the mining area to the extraction site, she said.
Jacob said the issue of mining licence for agricultural land, disposal of minerals from private land, supply of mineral for building / development projects, registration of retail mineral vendor, mineral storage and all services related to deed execution had been made online through UP Mine Mitra.
A schedule has been fixed for issuing or registration of all types of licence.
The department has set up check-gates with intelligent monitoring system on five highways in Baghpat, Etawah, Jalaun and Banda-Fatehpur border to check illegal mining and illegal transportation of minerals. These check-gates will become functional by September 30.
The gates will be equipped with radio frequency identification system, automatic number plate recognition cameras, varifocal camera and vehicle tracking system, she said.
Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, the department of geology and mining worked to encourage mining business in the state, created maximum employment in the mining sector and provided cheap and accessible minerals to the common consumers, she said.
