Yogi launches Kisan Kalyan Mission, cautions farmers against being misled
The CM also lays foundation stone of 99 new agricultural projects on the occasion
LUCKNOW : Cautioning farmers against being misled by vested interests, Uttar Pradesh (UP) chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday claimed that farmers could become a part of the country’s political agenda for the first time since Independence only after the Narendra Modi government came to power in 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
“Earlier political parties did make farmers their vote bank but never made or implemented policies for them sincerely on coming to power. But now, not only are policies being made but also being implemented honestly bringing the ‘annadata’ (farmer) from the margin to the mainstream,” he said.
The CM was addressing a gathering of farmers after launching the state-wide ‘Kisan Kalyan Mission’ from the Dadupur village under the Sarojini Nagar development block here. The ‘Kisan Kalyan Mission’ is government’s three-week massive campaign to reach out to farmers and help them double their income by 2022.
The CM also laid foundation stone of 99 new agricultural projects on this occasion. He claimed the government was sparing no efforts to double the income of the farmers and to equip them with new technology, ensuring their produce purchased at MSP or above.

Enumerating the welfare schemes launched by the Modi government during last six years, he said had the work done since 2014 been done since Independence, the Modi government would not have been forced to fix the target in 2014 to double income of farmers by 2022.
He claimed the government was sparing no efforts to double the income of the farmers and to equip them with new technology, ensuring their produce purchased at MSP or above.
“Now, the change is clearly happening and instead of committing suicide farmers are now adopting new farm technology to increase productivity,” he asserted urging farmers to be alert against the vested interests that wanted them to deviate from the path of progress.
The ‘Kisan Kalyam Mission, he hoped would benefit farmers and help them enhance their income.
He also honoured several progressive farmers and also distributed Kisan Credit Cards to many others.
A total of 825 blocks will be covered during the mission while 350 of them were covered in the inaugural phase on Wednesday.
The progressive farmers will tell their success stories to the rest of the farmers at the farmers’ fairs and seminars that will be held at a local level. For this, the agriculture department will select 100 progressive farmers as role models for local farmers from every district. They will also be honored and given a platform to present their views in the seminars etc during the ‘Kisan Kalyam Mission’ that will be held every Wednesday till January 21.
“The entire programme would be monitored at a high level,” officers said.
