‘UP FIRST STATE TO CONDUCT 2.5 CR COVID TESTS’

LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh achieved another landmark in sample testing by conducting over 2.5 crore Covid-19 tests since March last year. The state tops in the country in total sample tests, said Amit Mohan Prasad, additional chief secretary, health and family welfare.

On Thursday, 1.46 lakh samples were tested, taking the total sample test tally in the state to 2, 50, 34, 039, he said.

The recovery rate among Covid patients in UP was 96.62% on Friday. Health teams had surveyed 3.11 crore houses and 15.14 crore people across the state.

State records 775 fresh Covid cases; 130 in Lko

Three patients died while 130 more tested positive for Covid-19 in Lucknow, while the state count reached 5,91,893 with 775 fresh cases. With 17 fatalities in the state on Friday, the death toll reached 8,469.

During the day, Kanpur reported 22 cases, Prayagraj 19, Ghaziabad 29, Gautam Buddh Nagar 21, Meerut 23 and Varanasi 39. One death each was reported in Prayagraj and Gorakhpur and two in Varanasi.

In Lucknow, fresh cases were reported from Alambagh 10, Chowk 10, Gomti Nagar 12, Rae Bareli Road 14 and Mahanagar 10.

“The total number of cases in Lucknow has now reached 79,594, of which 76,147 patients have recovered and there have been 1,127 deaths. The recovery rate is now 95.72%,” said associatio­n of internatio­nal doctors’ secretary-general Abhishek Shukla.

In all, 203 patients were discharged while samples of 7,575 people were taken in the district.
