IT PARKS IN UP TO ATTRACT ₹200 CR INVESTMENT
LUCKNOW: The Yogi Adityanath government on Sunday announced a new information technology (IT) park in Pilkhani industrial area in Saharanpur. The announcement is in line with the government’s aim to set up an IT park in all divisions across the state in collaboration with Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), an autonomous organisation established by the union ministry of electronics and information technology.
It is estimated that IT parks under construction at present in the state would attract an investment of around Rs 200 crore and generate 15,000 employment opportunities, an official said.
Alok Kumar, additional chief secretary (IT and Electronics) said the work of setting up IT parks in Meerut and Agra was almost complete.
Gorakhpur and Varanasi IT parks were expected to be established by September, Kumar added. The state government has provided land free of cost for all these IT parks and the process of selecting local information technology and start-up companies for them is also being done simultaneously.
Kumar said the transfer deed of Jawaharlal Nehru Commercial Complex of Varanasi Development Authority (VDA) in favour of the IT and electronics department was under process for the setting up of an IT park there. In addition, STPI would soon start construction work at Panki, Kanpur. The process is also on for procuring land of the Indian Turpentine and Rosin Company for an IT park project in Bareilly.
STPI centre of Lucknow had recorded exports of Rs 230 crore in 2019-20 as a result of the state government’s investment friendly policies and improvement in the ease of doing business, he said.
