Vaccinators ready for big responsibility
LUCKNOW : On a day on which Uttar Pradesh completed its final statewide dry run, vaccinators who would take part in the actual Covid-19 inoculation campaign from January 16 said they were excited to be part of the nationwide exercise.
“It’s a big responsibility and I am ready to give off my best,” said Beena Singh, one of the vaccinators who was part of the dry run at King George’s Medical University (KGMU) in Lucknow on Monday.
“The dry run was like a pract i ce session and it has improved our confidence. We are ready for the vaccination now,” said Beena, who had attended to 14 dummy vaccine beneficiaries in two hours.
Other vaccinators said it was the honour and achievement of a lifetime to be associated with the Covid-19 vaccination drive.
“The pandemic had locked us inside our homes. The vaccination gives us the chance to bring life back to normal and I will be one of the vaccinators
with the opportunity to make this happen,” said another vaccinator deployed on t he t hird- f l oor of t he Kalam Centre where 33 vaccination sites/booths have been made.
“I have been doing vaccination since the past few years, but this time there are a few new things. Covid being a new health issue, we were all trained how to match the identity of the beneficiary and
administer the vaccine in 0.5-ml or 1-ml doses. The learning process has been completed in the past few weeks and I am ready for the job,” said Anjali Devi, who works as ANM (auxiliary nurse midwife) and is a vaccinator at the KGMU vaccination centre.
“The entire team of vaccinators were given the opportunity to understand the process and the responsibility that they need to shoulder. At present, we have 730 vaccinators who will be vaccinating at 180 vaccination sites/booths in the state capital,” said Dr MK Singh, district immunisation officer.
