VHP fundraising drive from today
Eminent people to be contacted in the first phase, commoners in the second. The VHP cadre will reach out to people who can make contribution as per their wish
: The nationwide 44-day campaign of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) to connect with people to raise fund for constructing Ram Mandir in Ayodhya starting from Friday is divided into two phases.
In the first phase from January 15 to 31, the VHP cadre will reach out to only those eminent people who have been listed out by its local cadre.
The second phase will start from February 1 and will end on February 27. Most of the visits to such people will not be made public.
At the village, block, town and district levels, the VHP has identified people who will be contacted in the first phase. A list of all such people, mostly in top positions in their respective fields, has been prepared.
“Eminent people in government jobs, corporate world and other personalities have been identified for the first phase of the campaign,” said a senior VHP leader not willing to be quoted.
“If anyone wants to avoid public glare, the visit to his residence will not be made public,” he added.
In the second phase starting February 1, which will be an open public campaign, common people will be contacted.
“The VHP cadre will reach out to people who can make contribution as per their wish,” said Sharad Sharma, regional spokesperson for VHP, who operates from Karsevakpuram, Ayodhya.
To ensure participation of everyone in the temple’s construction, the Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirath Kshetra Trust has also got printed coupons of Rs 10, Rs 100 and Rs 1,000.
They will be used in collecting fund for the construction of Ram Mandir. Lord Ram’s posters and calendars will also be distributed to each household visited during the drive.
In this campaign, frontal organisations of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh will play a prominent role.
Meanwhile, elaborate preparations have been made in Ayodhya for the campaign. Around 15 centres have been made in Ayodhya district.
For each centre, an office bearer of the VHP has been appointed to lead the campaign.
