55.78% Covaxin beneficiaries take the jabs in Lucknow
LUCKNOW : Only 55.78% of the beneficiaries (188 out of 337) listed for the Covaxin jab turned up at the three hospitals where the vaccination was planned on Thursday.
Lok Bandhu, Civil Hospital and Rani Laxmibai hospital were to give the Covaxin shots to 125 beneficiaries each. At Lok Bandhu, 109 were listed as 16 names of the medical staff vaccinated earlier were repeated on the list. “We had 109 beneficiaries listed for vaccination and 70 came to take the shot,” said Dr Amita Yadav, chief of Lok Bandhu Hospital. Covaxin vaccine is being provided at three hospitals while the remaining hospitals are using the Covishield vaccine.
On January 22 when 600 beneficiaries were listed for Covaxin shots at these hospitals, 377 (56.16%) had turned up.
“After getting vaccinated, was back in the OPD and saw patients,” said Dr Ashok Yadav, former president of the Provincial Medical Services Association and a senior consultant at Civil hospital, where Covaxin is being administered.
“It’s voluntary. Hence all are being convinced to take the vaccine to stay safe. All those vaccinated are fit and fine and are back to their routine work,” said a senior health official.
ROUND 4 TODAY
LUCKNOW: A total of 13,000 health workers will be given the jabs in Lucknow on Friday in round four of the first phase of Covid vaccination drive. “In all, 104 vaccination booths will cover 125 beneficiaries each,” said Dr MK Singh, in-charge of vaccination in Lucknow. Each vaccination centre will also have an extra vial of the dose.
