Docs who took jab want others to do the same

LUCKNOW: “No worries. Get yourself vaccinated for your safety as well as that of your family. I did all routine work after vaccinatio­n,” shared Prof Vinod Jain of the general surgery department at the King George’s Medical University (KGMU) on WhatsApp groups on Thursday morning.

Many other doctors, who got the vaccine jab, took to social media to motivate other.

“After my morning walk and breakfast, the next thing I did was to get the vaccine. Felt safe after getting the jab,” said Dr PK Gupta, former president of the IMA, Lucknow. Insisting that taking the jab is a few seconds job which provides safety for long, Sandeep Kapoor, director, Healthcity hospital, said, “I feel the vaccine will help me perform better. Not just for medical profession­als but the vaccine is significan­t for others too.”Dr Kapoor took the jab at Fatima Hospital, one of the 12 private sector hospitals where vaccinatio­n centres have been made.

“The process is very simple and painless,” said Prof Tulika Chandra, head of transfusio­n medicine at the KGMU.

“For a healthy India it is important that all those listed should take the vaccine. I appeal all those listed for vaccinatio­n to take the jab so that they remain protected and could protect others also,” said Meesam Ali Khan, pro-chancellor of Era University where 11 vaccinatio­n booths were made. The state capital had 43 vaccinatio­n centres made at different hospitals and colleges that ran 116 vaccinatio­n session sites/booths with a list of 14,500 beneficiar­ies to be vaccinated.
