LUCKNOW: The journey to Lucknow of Uttar Pradesh’s Ram temple tableau has been delayed because of damage caused to it in the vandalism during the farmers’ protest in Delhi on January 26. The temple model’s dome and other parts were damaged, said a state government spokesperson.
“Bharatiya Kisan Union activists had stormed the Red Fort in Delhi on Tuesday defying appeals to maintain law and order. Rakesh Tikait, the BKU leader, was also seen on social media instigating the people to indulge in violence. Tikait’s role is intolerable. His supporters, at his behest, damaged the dome and other parts of the model,” said a media advisor to the chief minister. The saint community in Ayodhya is also anguished over this. Mahant Narendra Giri, president of the Akhara Parishad “anyone who plays with the faith of crores of devotees cannot be farmers. Such elements should be treated as nothing short of ‘terrorists’ and law of the land should be applied to them, accordingly.” The spokesperson said the government has geared up to deal with a heavy hand if such acts are repeated in UP by Tikait and his cronies. “We have a plan to tackle any untoward situation if given traction by such anti-social and anti-national elements,” said an official, who added: “Nobody will be allowed to disturb the tranquility in the state.”
