LUCKNOW : The St Joseph’s Hospital in Gomti Nagar topped the chart of vaccination centres in Lucknow by inoculating 103 of the 125 listed beneficiaries (82%) while the community health centre (CHC) in Chinhat remained at the bottom with just 10 of the targeted 125 beneficiaries (8%) given the jabs on Thursday.

As per the booth-wise details shared by the health department for the vaccination conducted on January 28, 6,970 out of the targeted 14,311 beneficiaries were vaccinated (4,910 men and 2,780 women) in round three of the first phase in the state capital.

Around 52% beneficiaries did not turn up for the third round in Lucknow on Thursday

Another booth set up at the St Joseph’s Hospital vaccinated 72% of the beneficiaries (90 out of 125). The district administration had announced that the best performing three booths in the state capital would be felicitated.

The urban health centre in Tudiaganj ranked second on the list with 81% vaccination against the target. Here, 51 of the 63 listed beneficiaries got themselves vaccinated. The super speciality cancer hospital remained on third place with 80% vaccination. Out of the target of 125, 100 beneficiaries were inoculated.

However, experts said that the vaccination percentage at each booth should be at least more than 80%. “The vaccine is safe and all should get it when their turn comes. The vaccination percentage should ideally be around 95% as prior information is given to all beneficiaries,” said Dr Sandeep Kapoor, director, Healthcity Hospital, who was the first to get the jab at his hospital.

To increase the vaccination percentage, the health department was ensuring that all beneficiaries were sent an SMS a day before the vaccination.
