LUCKNOW: Of the targeted 9,196 beneficiaries, 6,481 (70.47%) took the Covid vaccine jab in the state capital on Friday during the sixth inoculation round of the first phase, said Dr MK Singh, in charge of vaccination in Lucknow.

In this round, frontline workers were also included in the beneficiaries list and the district magistrate, divisional commissioner and commissioner of police also took the shot.

At the collectorate, two vaccination booths with a target of 250 beneficiaries were made and two beds with oxygen support and medical staff were arranged. This arrangement was made for the first time with frontline workers as beneficiaries. In all, 165 (66%) beneficiaries took the jab here.

For the 76 vaccination session sites/booths, the list had 6571 health workers and 2625 frontline workers (policemen, revenue department etc) and a total of 6481 took the jab. Of the total 6571 health workers, 4793 (72.94%) took the shot and among 2625 frontline

workers 1688 (64.30%) were inoculated.

For health workers, the highest 113.6% vaccination was at Era Medical College where the target was of 875 heath workers and 994 got the shot.

The highest vaccination percentage at frontline workers centre was at the CRPF camp where out of the 1000 beneficiaries on the list, 802 got the shot at 8 vaccination booths.

“Today was the first day when frontline workers were called for vaccination. The 64.30% vaccination percentage among frontline workers is motivating. Hopefully this will rise further,” said Dr Abhishek Shukla, secretary general, Association of International Doctors.

Till now, over 32,830 health care workers have got the vaccine. Over 51,000 health workers are listed for vaccination.

The Indian Medical Association has approached health officials regarding the names of medical staff missing in the vaccination list.

“Many names sent to health department in November or December went missing in the list of beneficiaries, hence a large number of health workers could not be vaccinated,” said Dr PK Gupta, former president IMA, Lucknow.

Over 800 vaccinated at CRPF camp

Over 800 beneficiaries were vaccinated at the Covid vaccination centre made at the office of the deputy inspector general of police, Group Centre, Central Reserve Police Force on Thursday.

The vaccination programme was conducted for 1000 beneficiaries under the supervision of deputy inspector general Shashi Prakash Singh while Dr Poonam Chaudhary of the group hospital, Dr Sharda Sahni, Dr Sunitha B and paramedical staff coordinated the vaccination campaign.
