LUCKNOW : The chief minister’s helpline – 1076 – is coming in handy for the state government in gathering feedback about various government initiatives and how successful they have been in reaching the intended beneficiaries, say government officials.

It was also being used to gather feedback about free textbooks provided to students in government primary schools and if they were getting free uniforms, sweaters among other things, the officials added.

“Feedback is also being received through the CM helpline about the CT scan and free dialysis facility in government hospitals,” they said adding since inception the 24x7 helpline initiative had been very effective with more than 35.5 lakh complaints disposed of so far.

A 500-seat call centre for helpline is functional in the state capital. Its capacity could be increased to 1,000 seats, officials said. Daily, the helpline call centre logs about 35000 calls, including 4500 calls made especially for registering complaints. These calls include ones seeking help from government or information about government schemes.

“There is a set practice in place. All complaints are directed to the officer of the department to which they relate to. If the complainant isn’t satisfied with the response, the complaint is redirected to another senior officer who then acts on the complaint,” a government official said.

Throughout the lockdown period and after, the CM helpline was a great help in monitoring Covid patients and spreading information on the issue.
