MEERUT: Emotions ran high at the Bharatiya Kisan Union’s ‘ Kisan Mahapanchayat’ held at Bilari in Moradabad region on Friday. Thousands of farmers from Sambhal, Moradabad, Amroha and other adjoining districts congregated at the event and rent the air with slogans of ‘ Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’ and ‘Baba Tikait Amar Rahe’.

Addressing the Mahapanchayat, BKU chief Naresh Tikait attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and accused him of making a mockery of farmers in the Parliament.

He also said that those who had been sitting at Delhi’s borders supported the Bharatiya Janata Party and 98 per cent of them voted for the party in the election.

“The public would reply and the support would be reduced to two per cent in the coming elections,” said Tikait.

Bijendra Yadav, BKU’s state principal general secretary, coordinated the Mahapanchayat presided over by Musaaid Ali Khan and Master Malkhan Singh. Tikait reiterated the farmers’ demand for repealing the contentious farm laws and said that a ‘ law should be made for buying crop on MSP’.

He also demanded judicial enquiry for violence on January

26 in Delhi and release of innocent farmers from jail.

He suggested the formula of ‘1 village, 11 people’ for visit to the Delhi border. He said they should be replaced with a new group of villagers to continue support to the movement in Delhi.

Thousands of people in the Mahapanchayat gave a rousing

welcome to Naresh Tikait, Rajpal Sharma(BKU national general secretary) and Vijaypal Singh( BKU national vice president) who also shared the dais with Tikait.

This was Naresh Tikait’s second Mahapanchayat after he addressed a big gathering in Muzaffarnagar Mahapanchayat on January 29.
