Federation Cup bodybuildi­ng to take place in Lucknow in April

LUCKNOW: Over 300 athletes and 100 officials from all parts of the country would be seen in action in the 10th Federation Cup senior men’s body building, 13th senior women’s body building and 8th women’s sports model physique and fitness physique national championsh­ip, scheduled to be held on April 3 and 4 here. There would be 14 categories in total, including 10 weight group of men’s body

building, one open category of women’s body building, two category of women’s sports model physique and one open category of women’s fitness physique.

Disclosing about the event, Chetan M Pathare, secretary general of World Body Building and Physique Sport Federation (WBPF) said that it’s the first time when women’s category has been inducted in Federation Cup.

Sajid Ahmed, president of the UP Body Building and Fitness Associatio­n, said that it was a big opportunit­y for the state body to host the event like Federation Cup. “We are committed for the success of the event and it’s a really a big responsibi­lity on our shudders to do it well,” he said.

Interestin­gly, this would be the first championsh­ip under the newly elected executive committee of the Indian Body Builders Federation which is led by Arvind Madhok as president and Hiral Sheth as general secretary.

POSTAL CARROM

Maharashtr­a in women’s and Tamil Nadu in men’s section emerged victorious at the 25th All India Postal Carrom Tournament, at the KD Singh ‘Babu’ Stadium. R Vineetha of Andhra Pradesh and KM Suman of Tamil Nadu finished individual champions in women’s and men’s sections, respective­ly.

EASY VICTORY

Kooh Sports Cricket Club (KSCC) scored a convincing seven-wicket win against Gear Cricket Club (GCC) in the CAL’s prize money league here on Saturday.

GCC 147 in 38.5 overs (Nitin Kumar 76, Janmay Jai Yadav 4/16, Surendra Kumar 4/29) lost to KSCC 151/3 in 27.4 overs (Arvind Rajpoot 56, Deepak Kumar 50).

RISHI SHINES

An all-round performanc­e by Rishi Singh Senger (4 wkts, 35* runs) helped last year’s runners-up Times of India launch their campaign in the 3rd SBI Media Cup Twenty20 Tournament, crushing Indian Express by seven wickets in the opening league match, at the KD Singh ‘Babu’ Stadium here on Saturday.

In the second match of the day, DD-AIR Eleven defeated Combined Press by 33 runs. Chief General Manager of SBI, Ajay Kumar Khanna and Lucknow’s Police Commission­er DK Tahkur graced the opening day matches.
