Man gives false info about crimes 15 times, lands in police net
LUCKNOW A 24-year-old man, identified as Mohd Nihal, landed in the police net on Sunday over having allegedly given false information about supposed incidents of murder and loot at least 15 times in different parts of the city in the past one month, said senior police officials.
After giving false information about the so-called crimes, the accused used to enjoy watching the police personnel go on a wild goose chase, the officials said.
A team of the Thakurganj police station arrested him after registering an FIR (First Information Report) in this connection, they added.
Sunil Dubey, inspector in-charge of Thakurganj police station, said the accused confessed to making frequent calls to the UP112 call centre and giving false information about murder and loot.
He said a case was registered at the Thakurganj police station as he gave false information about murders in three instances under its jurisdiction in the past 20 days.
The accused had purchased a separate SIM card to make these calls, he added.
He said the accused belonged to a lower middle-class family and did not have a criminal background.
The inspector also said the accused made the first call, informing the police control room that his sister was bludgeoned to death by some people and the body was lying near Balaganj.
“He made another call about a body lying near Lal Masjid. Similarly, he made a call about a man having been shot dead near another mosque in Thakurganj area,” he added.
Dubey said the accused used to keep interacting with cops while police teams rushed to the spot every time after such calls. All the while, the accused kept changing his location and enjoyed watching the police search in vain, he added. The inspector said the accused had similarly given false information in the Chowk, Talkatora and Alamnagar areas.
