Legislators’ training for paperless House operations concludes
LUCKNOW : The three-day training programme of Uttar Pradesh legislators for paperless operation of House proceedings and use of iPads concluded on Sunday.
Chairman, legislative council, Manvendra Singh and deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma inaugurated and concluded the last day training session of the lawmakers.
On the lines of the centre, the Uttar Pradesh government plans to present a paperless budget for 2021-22.
The proceedings of the state legislature, starting from February 18, will be paperless and so the three-day training programme was organised from February 12.
Speaking on the occasion, Singh said “we all know that technology is the way to progress. The more we have technical knowledge, the better our path will be for progress.”
Lauding the effort of chief minister Yogi Adityanath, Singh said “the chief minister has made commendable effort for paperless cabinet meetings and so all ministers were trained to operate the gadget. Now, all the legislators will participate in the budget session with using tablets and iPads. It will make Uttar Pradesh the first state in country to table a paperless budget.”
He further said: “The developed countries have progressed using technology. Following the footsteps of the central government, the UP government has also decided to present a paperless budget. The training programme was conducted in view of the decision to present a paperless budget.”
Dinesh Sharma said “initial knowledge of operating iPad was given to all members. Several members are using computers, laptops, iPads in their day-to-day routine. The members were trained how t o receive information, how to preserve it, how to make comments and forward the information when required.”
Singh appreciated the effort of principal secretary, parliamentary affairs JP Singh, principal secretary, legislative council Rajesh Singh, principal secretary and legislative assembly Pradeep Dubey in conducting the training programme with the support of National Informatics Centre (NIC) experts.
