AGRA: The Samajwadi Party (SP) on Monday expelled MLA Hariom Yadav from the party for six years on the charges of anti-party activities.

On the directives of Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, the Sirsaganj (in Firozabad) MLA was expelled from the party for six years, a release quoting Uttar Pradesh SP chief Naresh Uttam Patel said.

“SP state chief Naresh Uttam’s letter dated February 15 informing about Yadav’s expulsion has reached Firozabad,” confirmed party’s district unit president DP Yadav. However, party general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav, who was in Firozabad to attend a marriage function, did not comment on the issue.

Meanwhile, party’s state secretary Avnindra Yadav said, “Hariom Yadav is known for being foul- mouthed and frequently uses unparliamentary language. The decision (on Yadav) was long awaited.”

When contacted, the Sirsaganj MLA criticised his expulsion from the party without being served any show cause notice. He was also critical of party general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav and blamed him for his expulsion.

“This is not a decision of the party but of a specific person. I have no connection with BJP but had terms with Shivpal Yadav being related to Saifai family. This party is now not the party of Mulayam Singh Yadav and I am expelled for no proper reason,” Yadav claimed.

Talking about his future plans, the expelled MLA said he would interact with voters of his constituency and would do what they wished him to. After last year’s bypoll to the Tundla assembly seat in Firozabad, which the SP lost, the Sirsaganj MLA had issued a statement against the party president and other senior leaders, blaming them for the defeat.
