New farm laws already benefiting farmers: Modi
LUCKNOW : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said the new farm laws had already begun benefiting farmers, who were coming forward to expose the ‘politics of lies’ by those who brought foreign companies into the farm sector.
“The new farm laws are already benefiting small farmers. Reports of good experiences of farmers have already begun pouring in after enactment of the three farm laws. But efforts are being made to spread misinformation. Those who enacted the law to invite foreign companies in Indian agricultural markets are trying to scare people using name of Indian companies.
Farmers are now exposing this politics of lies,” said Modi while addressing people via video conference after laying the foundation stone of Maharaja Suheldev Memorial, which will include a 40-feet tall statue of the maharaja, and Chittaura Lake development project and also dedicating to people a state medical college in Bahraich.
Although, the prime minister did not name any political
party, his reference to the erstwhile Congress government led reforms was obvious. Governor Anandiben Patel and chief minister Yogi Adityanath attended the programme organized to mark Maharaja Suheldev’s birth anniversary. Modi also referred to procurement of paddy beyond target and the ongoing distribution of house ownership documents to nearly 2 lakh families under the Swamitva Yojana in Uttar Pradesh to make his point and said, “Farmers are realising that for the first time any government is running such a big scheme to protect small houses and land of farmers. How can anyone believe when lies are being spread about land of farmers will be taken away through agriculture reforms.” He invoked Lord Rama quoting lines from ‘Ramcharitmanas’ to make his point that any work being done in his name would always succeed. “Whatever we do remembering Lord Rama will be successful.”
