LUCKNOW : A road in Amausi village, in Sarojini Nagar ward of Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC), has been ‘blocked’ by some persons with concrete pillars, hindering movement of vehicles of many of the around 150 families of the area.

The road has been allegedly blocked by some persons who claim that it passes through their land. The 15 feet wide road has been reduced to just a six feet now, say locals, who alleged that those ‘blocking’ the road were getting support from corporator of area Ram Naresh Rawat, whose name has figured in the FIR lodged by LMC for “encroaching” the road and inciting violence against an LMC team which went there earlier this month to measure the road after complaints of encroachment.

Local Rajendra Singh said,

“Many of the about 150 families are unable to bring their fourwheelers to their house because someone has raised several pillars in the middle of the road. The 15 feet road is now reduced to just 6 feet. We don’t know where to go for help.”

Another local said: “I have to park my four-wheeler at the residence of my friend on the main road. The authorities are not able to take any action against the people responsible for occupying the road.”

However, corporator Ram Naresh Rawat said, “LMC tehsildar (official) has named me in the FIR without any reason. I was not even present when the violence against the LMC team took place.”

Meanwhile, municipal commissioner Ajay Dwivedi has sought a report on the matter from officials.

He said: “The effort is on to solve the issue amicably as 150 families have been affected.”
