LUCKNOW : Undignified film songs as caller tunes may now land cops in trouble.

Police personnel in Deoria district of Uttar Pradesh had been warned to be cautious while selecting caller tunes, said senior police officials on Thursday.

They said Deoria superintendent of police (SP) Sri Pati Mishra had issued a circular to all circle officers and police stations in-charges in this regard.

Talking on phone, SP Deoria Sri Pati Mishra confirmed that he had issued the circular after coming across some caller tunes of police officials and personnel that were not in good taste. He said the undignified caller tunes gave a wrong perception of the police force to the public which called them to seek assistance.

He said he had issued the detailed circular in this connection on Wednesday.

Sharing further details, he said he had asked the circle officers and all police station in-charges to strictly comply with the instructions.

He said they had been asked to properly counsel their subordinates and ensure they had not put any undignified caller tunes. He said the cops were told to select caller tunes that depicted the state police as one of the most disciplined.

He even warned of strict action if any police personnel’s caller tune was found undignified.

Another Deoria police official privy to the development said the SP had issued this circular after coming across very unpleasant Bhojpuri songs as caller tunes of some police personnel. He said the songs were such that no woman would feel comfortable when calling the cops.

The cops have been told to select caller tunes that depicted the state police as one of the most disciplined SRI PATI MISHRA , superintendent of police
