UP women’s to play one dayers at Jaipur

LUCKNOW: Favourites Uttar Pradesh would be playing all their league matches of the Senior Women’s One Day, starting March 11 at Jaipur as they have been placed in Elite Group C as per the announceme­nt made by the BCCI on Thursday.

Uttar Pradesh, which had a third place finish in the Elite Group C last season are clubbed with teams like Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtr­a, hosts Rajasthan, Goa and Chandigarh.

All 36 teams, including seven in Plate Group, have been asked to assemble at their respective venues on March 4, where three COVID tests on different days would be conducted on the players.

Quarter-finals are scheduled for March 29 and 30, where both the semi-finals would be played on April 1. The final is slated for April 4.

CRUCIAL TIE

It’s going to be the crucial encounter when former join champions Uttar Pradesh take on Railways in their fourthroun­d match in the Vijay Hazare Trophy at the Alur Cricket Stadium-III in Bengaluru on Friday.

Kerala with three wins in as many as matches lead the table with 12 points in group C, whereas hosts and defending champions Karnataka and Railways are placed at second and third positions with eight points. Though UP too have eight points in three matches, they are at the fourth position due to the net run rate.

SUPERB BATTING

Haider Raza struck a sparkling 156 in 128 balls with the help of 19 fours and eight sixes to help North Eastern Railway (NER) beat Kooh Sports Cricket Club (KSCC) by 166 runs to collect full points in the Prize Money League here on Thursday.

After scoring 287/5 in 40 overs, NER managed to get the rivals out for just 121 in 32.1 overs.

FOOTBALL TOURNEY

As many as 10 top teams of Lucknow would be seen in action in the 35th Single Day Football Tournament, scheduled to be played on February 28, at the RDSO Stadium here under the auspices of the Milani Club. All the teams would be divided in two groups of five teams each and one match would be off 30-minute duration, including 15-minute half. The participat­ing teams include LGFC, New Boys, Sahara Football Club, DAV, LDA, Cantt Sporting, Eleven Star, RA Boys, Chowk Stadium and hosts Milani Club, states Milani Club’s secretary, Gauri Nath Gupta.
