Infosys founder shares survival vision
LUCKNOW : Infosys founder NR Narayana Murthy on Saturday shared his vision on how businesses should survive in tough times through persistence. He also explained the importance of benchmarking ourselves against the best.
He was interacting online with aspiring managers at the inauguration of the two- day Manfest-Varchasva, the annual business, sports and cultural fest of Indian Institute of Management-Lucknow (IIM-L). The students said his session was extremely motivational for those who aspired to excel in their respective fields even in adverse times. “Inspire the Revolution” is the theme for this year’s fest. It emphasises on the individual revolutionary efforts required by every individual to come out of the pandemic stronger than ever.
This year’s festival is being conducted entirely in the online mode. IIM-L director, Prof Archana Shukla, PGP (Post Graduate Programme) chairperson Prof Ajay Garg, student affairs chairman Prof Rajesh Aithal and dean (programs) Prof Arunabha Mukhopadhyay jointly inaugurated the event.
In her address, Prof Shukla motivated the students to develop resilience. She explained how developing an adversity quotient would be vital for standing strong in the face of hardship.
Online Interaction with leaders
The first interactive session of NR Narayana Murthy was followed by multiple leaders.
KV Subramanian, chief economic advisor of the Central government, explained the complex working of economies and how the country could revive its economy in challenging times.
He emphasised how economics was the art of maximising the benefit from scarce resources and how good policymaking was about implementing the policy with the least cost and maximum benefit.
Vineet Nayar, former chief executive officer of HCL Technologies, spoke about how higher-order leadership was all about inspiring people.
Tania Sachdev, Indian Chess Grandmaster, taught the participants how losses in life were the most rewarding events and how they enabled one to be more persistent and consistent in “our efforts”.
Junaid Kamal Ahmad, World Bank Country director of India, talked about risk management and how the new world needs to rethink how the state and the multilateral system work.
Management events
In the management events, the students fought tooth and nail to prove their prowess in the field of management and problemsolving. With the prize money crossing over Rs 1 lakh in individual events, contestants from across the nation and the most prestigious colleges of the nation brought their best on stage.
Cultural events
There were several events featuring music, theatre, fashion show and dance.
The show was full of colour and flair.
