UP orders 2 lakh vials of Remdesivir

: Health and Family Welfare Minister, Jai Pratap Singh, has said that the state government has placed an order for the supply of 2 lakh Remdesivir vials with manufactur­ing companies. The state is likely to receive the consignmen­t of 20,000 vials by Monday (April 19) evening. The lifesaving injection will be dispatched to medical colleges and hospitals where Covid-19 patients are admitted, he said.

The state government will receive 751 metric tonnes (MT) oxygen from the central government, while another consignmen­t of 150 metric tonnes of oxygen is expected from manufactur­ing units located in Uttar Pradesh. We will have 40 hours of oxygen supply to all Covid-19 hospitals.

With the arrival of the oxygen stock from the central government the supply to the hospitals will be further boosted, he said.

Singh said that the health department is working to improve the functionin­g of the Integrated Command and Control Centres (ICCC). Erring

officers have been shunted from the ICCC and new officers have been appointed. To check confusion, there is clear work division among all officers. The allotment of beds and private rooms to Covid-19 patients in medical colleges and hospitals has been streamline­d, he claimed.

On the direction of the chief minister, the beds in KGMU and Balrampur Hospital have been increased. The KGMU will have 4,000 beds and Balrampur Hospital will have 700 beds, he said.
