Stressing on vaccination, Prasad said, “It has been found that those vaccinated do not develop severe illness even if they get infected. Hence, vaccination should be given priority by all those who are eligible.”

‘People became careless’

A fall in fresh Covid-19 cases (earlier this year) had made people careless and that was why the infection could spread in recent weeks, said Prof Surya Kant, head of the department of respiratory medicine at King George’s Medical University.

He was speaking at a webinar ‘Coronavirus: Facts and Fiction’ organised by FICCI Flow on Saturday.
