Hosps asked to become self-reliant in oxygen

LUCKNOW: Private medical colleges and hospitals have been asked to become self-reliant in terms of oxygen and to have a self-sustained system for the gas on their campuses, on Wednesday.In a meeting held at the Scientific Convention Centre and attended by representa­tives of all hospitals – including those running Covid-19 facilities in the state capital – it was also made clear that attendants of patients are not to be asked to arrange for oxygen.

Hospitals that ask attendants to arrange for oxygen shall face action.

In the meeting chaired by Roshan Jacob, in-charge of Covid-19, Lucknow, lists of suppliers of oxygen concentrat­ors and oxygen plants were shared with the hospital representa­tives. They were asked to ensure that their dependence on cylinders for oxygen is minimised.

The benefits of having an oxygen generation system on campus were explained and hospital representa­tives were convinced to start working on it. It was decided that the chief medical officer of Lucknow will monitor how many hospitals do not have oxygen plants installed in the next few days.

Also, the CMO was asked to ensure that all hospitals provide data regarding bed availabili­ty on the designated portal at 8 am and 4 pm every day. The hospitals were asked not to charge from patients over and above the prescribed fee.

MLA releases funds to develop medical facilities

The BRD Hospital, Mahanagar, will soon get an oxygen plant for which urban developmen­t minister Ashutosh Tandon has provided Rs 95,10,000. Also, the minister provided Rs 17,35,000 for other services such as X-ray machines, gas pipeline on the hospital campus from his MLA fund. He also gave Rs 18,61,178 for improving RT-PCR testing facility at the Dr RML Institute of Medical Sciences.
