NEGLIGENCE AT SSL: VARANASI DM WRITES TO GOVT WITH PROOF

-

VARANASI: The Varanasi district magistrate has sent a detailed report to the ministry of health and family welfare on complaints of negligence in the treatment of Covid-19 patients at Sir Sundar Lal (SSL) Hospital.

In the report sent on Tuesday, DM Kaushal Raj Sharma included a video, audio clips and complaints sent by family members of Covid-19 patients in the super-speciality block of the hospital. SSL hospital, IMSBHU, has been made a Level 3 hospital, where Covid-19 patients are being admitted and treated.

According to an official, the district administration is receiving half-a-dozen complaints daily.

Sharma said that several meetings were held with the SSL and IMS-BHU officials and they were asked to provide proper treatment and care to patients. The district administration is also providing full support to the SSL Hospital.

The DM said that despite these efforts, complaints of negligence of doctors in the superspecialty block continue to be received. People complained that senior doctors didn’t visit the Covid-19 ward and the SSL, IMS-BHU administration was apprised of these complaints. However, there was no improvement and complaints continue to pour in. Complaints about negligence in treatment at the hospital in BHU are denting the image of district administration, he said.

However, the BHU public relations office said in a statement that proper care and treatment was being given to patients admitted to the SSL Hospital, BHU.
