5 KIDS DROWN IN POND IN GONDA

LUCKNOW: Five children of a family, who went to extract mud from a pond in Rasoolpur Khan village of Gonda district, drowned on Thursday morning. Two other children, who were with the victims, were pulled out safely and undergoing treatment at a local hospital, said police. The deceased, including three girls and two boys, were aged between 6 and 12 years. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over the death of children and directed local authoritie­s to ensure all possible help to their families.

LUCKNOW : Five children of a family, who went to extract mud from a pond in Rasoolpur Khan village of Gonda district, drowned on Thursday morning. Two other children, who were with the victims, were pulled out safely and undergoing treatment at a local hospital, said police.

The deceased, including three girls and two boys, were aged between 6 and 12 years.

A group of seven children went to extract mud from the pond for some household work. One of them, Chanchal, slipped into the pond and others also slipped into it while trying to save her. Villagers rushed to save them after hearing their screams and pulled out all the kids from the pond, said police.

The children were rushed to a nearby hospital, where five of them were declared brought dead while two survived.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over the death of children and directed local authoritie­s to ensure all possible help to their families. said the deceased were identified as Chanchal, 8, her younger brother Shiva Kant, 6, Ragni, 8, her elder sister Prakashni, 10, and their cousin sister Muskan, 12, all residents of Rasoolpur Khan village.

Mishra told media that he visited the village to enquire about the incident.

Locals informed that the pond was not very deep, but the water level had risen as rainwater had accumulate­d into it.
