Traditional workers may get financial help

LUCKNOW: Thanks to UP Government’s ‘Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojna’ that aims to boost up the dying traditional-professions, the district’s traditional workers, including cobblers, potters, blacksmiths, masons, carpenters, electricians and others, may get a financial assistance in the days to come.
“It’s an ambitious programme for which registration has already started by the directorate of industries and enterprises promotion, UP. The last date for registering is September 4,” an administrative official said.
“We are facilitating people engaged in such professions to get registered with the directorate. People can also register by logging on to www.diupmsme.upsdc.gov.in, ” the official added.
While highlighting the scheme, the official said that under the scheme, people engaged in these trades such as basket-weavers, potters, blacksmiths, masons, tailors, carpenters, barbers, hawkers, cobblers and goldsmiths etc will be given special training and small loan facilities for setting up small industries.
The official said that the applicant will have to appear for an interview with his Aadhar card, caste certificate and photocopy of the bank passbook at the designated place and time.
Abhishek Prakash, district magistrate said that the scheme is aimed at giving financial assistance to the people engaged in these rare trades. The scheme will also help save these trades from extinction.
