LUCKNOW : Nirbal Indian Shoshit Hamara Aam Dal (Nishad Party) president Dr Sanjay Nishad said his party would welcome the decision of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to give representation to the Nishad party in the Uttar Pradesh cabinet. The BJP should fulfill the promises made to Nishad Party during the pre-poll alliance in the 2019 Lok Sabha election for providing reservation in government jobs to castes- Manjhi, Kahar, Kashyap, Kewat, Mallah, Rakwar, Dhivar, Bind, Dhimar, Batham, Turha, Godiya, Manjhi, Machuwa, Gond and Rajgond under the schedule caste category, he said.

Addressing a press conference after the conclusion of the three-day national convention of the Nishad party, Sanjay Nishad said the Nishad party urged the state government to withdraw cases lodged against party workers in various districts. The state government should restore the rights of the fishermen community over ponds, lakes and rivers across the state, he added.

The vote of the Nishad community is decisive in around 160 assembly segments in eastern and central UP, whereas the Nishad party constituted committees in over 70 assembly segments to contest the assembly election. Hitting out at the Samajwadi Party, Dr Nishad said the SP government pretended to be benevolent to the Nishad community. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav organized a ‘rath yatra’ to install the statue of Manohar Lal Nishad, but when he was CM not a single scheme was launched for benefit of the community.
