RAPE CASE: REALTOR’S BAIL PLEA REJECTED

-

LUCKNOW : The bail plea of a realtor, accused of raping his friend’s 24-year-old daughter by sedating her, was rejected by a city court on Wednesday, said police on Thursday.

The accused, Diwakar Singh, was arrested on August 1 after an FIR under multiple IPC sections was registered against him with the Sushant Golf City police station. He applied for bail in the court of district judge Suresh Kumar on Wednesday.

“The crime is of very serious nature and it is not suitable to grant relief to the accused,” stated the order of the court.

The victim’s lawyer Rohit Kant Srivastava said the court rejected the bail considering his point that the accused was an influential person and he could try to hamper the investigation. “The accused is so influential that the police did not register the FIR for long.

After the FIR was registered, his arrest was possible only after the intervention of a senior police official, who directed the Sushant Golf City police station in-charge for immediate action,” he said.

The lawyer said the accused had family terms with the victim woman’s family and was a frequent visitor to her house before the incident. The accused outraged the woman’s modesty by giving her sedative after finding her alone in the house and also made an objectionable video of the incident, he added.

The defence counsel, however, stated that the allegation of rape against the accused was false and the victim had framed him in the case due to business issues.
