Complete pending work before handover to LMC: RWAs to LDA
LUCKNOW : The Lucknow Development Authority’s (LDA) move to handover 17 colonies in Jankipuram Extension and Gomti Nagar Extension to the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has been opposed by the resident welfare associations (RWA) of these colonies citing pending development work.
“From sewer lines to drainage system, street lights, parks and even roads are in bad shape. First these pending works must be completed and thereafter colonies must be transferred to the LMC,” said Uma Shanker Dubey, secretary, Gomti Nagar Jankalyan Mahasamiti.
Similar views were expressed by Vinay Krishna Pandey, general secretary, Jankipuram Extension Welfare Committee.
“Jankipuram Extension is in bad shape. It is not on LDA’s priority list. Almost all roads here are in bad shape,” said Pandey.
Following the objection, the development authority has sent a letter to the municipal corporation for a joint survey of both these areas.
In the letter, LDA secretary Pawan Gangwar has, however, claimed that the development authority has completed all development work in both the regions.
But now transfer of colonies in sector 1 to 11 and sector J in
Jankipuram extension will be done only after the survey.
In the survey, pending development works, if any, will be earmarked and the development authority will complete them before handing over the colonies to LMC.
Same process will be adopted in Gomti Nagar extension.
The development authority has already handed over facilities related with water supply to Jal Kal and the LMC.
“We want handover of colonies to the LMC. But before this, all pending development work must be completed,” said Rajat Srivastava, a local resident of Jankipuram Extension.
