TEXTILE INDUSTRY A WINNING BET IN PURVANCHAL

Purvanchal has become quite a textile hub, thanks to the inclusion of readymade garments under the One District-One Product scheme

-

Skilled manpower of Purvanchal is getting a lot of support from the textile industry. The CM had started his efforts to encourage this industry as soon as he became an MP. Today the result is that entrepreneurs working in other states are also ready to set up industries in Purvanchal.

Readymade garments have been included as another product of One District-One Product scheme. With this, not only are the entrepreneurs getting easy loans from the bank at very low interest, but are also getting the benefit of the exemption given by the government under the scheme. In the last Union Budget, the Finance Minister had announced setting up of seven mega textile parks in the country. A Mega Textile Park is being set up in Gorakhpur with the initiative of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. A proposal has been sent to the government by the CEO of Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA) regarding a textile park on 100 acres of land on Gorakhpur Expressway. Entrepreneurs setting up units in the textile park will be given financial assistance under the textile industry policy of the state government, while the facilities provided by the central government will be additional. In order to encourage and facilitate the entrepreneurs of readymade garments, a proposal has been prepared by the GIDA regarding flatted factories in the industrial areas.

The GIDA administration is preparing an action plan for a flatted factory on 25 acres near Bhiti Rawat. The result of the government's policy is that not only the migrant labourers but even entrepreneurs from Mumbai, Noida and Gujarat are moving to Gorakhpur. Leaving business in Mumbai, entrepreneur Laxmi Shastri has set up a readymade factory in Bhiti Khoria. At the same time, readymade garment businessman Ramashankar Shukla is setting up a pant-shirt and jeans factory on a large scale. Here the 'Plug and Play' scheme will be implemented, in which the factory will be given on rent to the entrepreneurs.

THE PARK WILL BE OPERATED UNDER PPP MODEL

The Mega Textile Park is very important in terms of employment generation. The State Government is undertaking the work of setting up of Textile Park through Private Public Partnership. These parks are to be built under the Integrated Textile Park Scheme of the Central Government.

A former president of the Chamber of Industries said that there will be a lot of facilities in the textile park. Under the scheme, a fully prepared factory will be given to the entrepreneurs and its monthly or annual rent will be charged. It has been conveyed that if the textile park is fully operational then at least 25,000 people will get employment. In the textile factories operating in different parts of the country, 60 per cent of the workers are from UP and Bihar, so their migration is also likely to stop. Apart from the garment park being developed in 25 acres, small entrepreneurs will also be provided with plots of 200 to 500 square meters. In the first phase, 60 such plots are being planned.
