BJP celebrates PM Modi’s birthday in Uttar Pradesh with many activities
The party launches a three-week “Seva Aur Samarpan Abhiyan” on the occasion. The campaign will continue till October 7
LUCKNOW: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) celebrated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 71st birthday in Uttar Pradesh (UP) on Friday with various activities centered on the PM’s birthday number 71. The BJP launched the three-week “Seva Aur Samarpan Abhiyan” (serve and dedicate initiative) on the occasion. The campaign will continue till October 7.
Along with Modi’s birthday, the birth anniversaries of party ideologue Deendayal Upadhyaya (September 25) and Mahatma Gandhi (October 2) would also be celebrated during the period, party leaders said.
Uttar Pradesh BJP chief Swatantra Dev Singh started the celebrations by lighting 71 diyas (earthen lamps) at Lucknow’s Hanuman Setu temple on Friday.
In Varanasi, Modi’s Lok Sabha constituency, the BJP lit 71,000 diyas at Bharat Mata temple. The party cadres also distributed 71-kilogram laddoos across all the assembly constituencies that make up the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat. The BJP’s different wings felicitated 71 farmers, an equal number of soldiers and women corona warriors.
In Mathura, BJP’s UP in-charge and former Union agriculture minister Radha Mohan Singh felicitated soldiers and farmers. Modiji is not just our Prime Minister. He is also a social reformer who has been mobilising the masses for social causes,” Radha Mohan Singh said on the occasion. He mentioned PM Modi’s Swachh Bharat, Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, water conservation and Namami Gange initiatives to back his point.
In Amethi, local MP and Union minister Smriti Irani organised a national wrestling championship. Opposition leaders in UP like Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati and Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav also wished the PM on his birthday. A film on Modi’s early life and times was also screened on the occasion.
While UP BJP chief Swatantra Dev Singh was in Lucknow for the launch of the “Seva Aur Samarpan Abhiyan”, the party’s state general secretary (organisation) Sunil Bansal was in Meerut for it.
