Niti Aayog lauds UP’s efforts
LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said the state’s eight aspirational districts were being linked to the mainstream of development by formulating an action plan for them in Uttar Pradesh.
He said special efforts were being made for progress and reforms in these districts in accordance with the standards set by the Niti Aayog.
Yogi stated this at a meeting with Niti Aayog vice-chairman Rajiv Kumar on Monday. Kumar lauded the state government’s efforts on this occasion. He said the state government was committed to cooperating and making all efforts to achieve the sustainable development goals. He said the Niti Aayog’s positive approach and cooperative point of view was helpful.
Yogi welcomed the Niti Aayog’s suggestions and asked the state’s team for better cooperation with the central ministries. He said with the Niti Aayog’s guidance, the state was moving ahead on the path of development.
Bahraich, Balrampur, Chandauli, Chitrakoot, Fatehpur, Shravasti, Siddharthnagar and Sonbhadra are the aspirational districts in Uttar Pradesh.
In June, Chandauli and Sonbhadra districts in eastern Uttar Pradeshhave were rated among the top five aspirational districts of the country in terms of improvement in net resilience and net vulnerability index, according to a report by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), India.
Chandauli figured at number two and Sonbhadra at four in the ratings.
The aspirational districts programme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January 2018 as part of the government’s efforts to raise the living standards in backward districts.
