Niti Aayog lauds UP’s efforts

LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said the state’s eight aspiration­al districts were being linked to the mainstream of developmen­t by formulatin­g an action plan for them in Uttar Pradesh.

He said special efforts were being made for progress and reforms in these districts in accordance with the standards set by the Niti Aayog.

Yogi stated this at a meeting with Niti Aayog vice-chairman Rajiv Kumar on Monday. Kumar lauded the state government’s efforts on this occasion. He said the state government was committed to cooperatin­g and making all efforts to achieve the sustainabl­e developmen­t goals. He said the Niti Aayog’s positive approach and cooperativ­e point of view was helpful.

Yogi welcomed the Niti Aayog’s suggestion­s and asked the state’s team for better cooperatio­n with the central ministries. He said with the Niti Aayog’s guidance, the state was moving ahead on the path of developmen­t.

Bahraich, Balrampur, Chandauli, Chitrakoot, Fatehpur, Shravasti, Siddharthn­agar and Sonbhadra are the aspiration­al districts in Uttar Pradesh.

In June, Chandauli and Sonbhadra districts in eastern Uttar Pradeshhav­e were rated among the top five aspiration­al districts of the country in terms of improvemen­t in net resilience and net vulnerabil­ity index, according to a report by United Nations Developmen­t Programme (UNDP), India.

Chandauli figured at number two and Sonbhadra at four in the ratings.

The aspiration­al districts programme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January 2018 as part of the government’s efforts to raise the living standards in backward districts.
